Correspondence between Léon Delachaux and Carol Storck from 1880 to 1884. Les carnets du Fonds de Dotation Léon Delachaux. Léon Delachaux Endowment Fund. Paris. 2021, 156 pages illustrated in color.

In 1876, Léon Delachaux, then an engraver of watch cases, enrolled at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) in Philadelphia and became friends with the Romanian sculptor Carol Storck (1854–1926).

The Romanian Academy in Bucharest holds nine letters from Delachaux to Storck, dated between 1880 and 1884. The Léon Delachaux Endowment Fund carried out a study of these letters for the exhibition Orient versus Occident, organized by the Museum of Bucharest in 2021, which showcased Romanian artists’ friendships with their European neighbors. The Léon Delachaux Endowment Fund conducted a study of these letters. They are reproduced, transcribed, and translated into French in this book.
